Forgotten Character Interview One: Suzanne Harvey

Today, I am going to do something a little different on Books & Bites. On various blogs you may have seen interviews with characters from different book series, and I’ve decided to do the same with mine. Hopefully it will give you all a bit of an insight into my novel, as well as one of the main characters. I’m pleased to introduce you all to Suzanne Harvey…

Thank you for taking part in this interview. Starting things off, how old are you?
I’m sixteen; at least, that’s what I tell everyone that asks.

Are you at school?
I’ve just started at Sycamore Heights High with my best friend, Emily Rhodes.

Don’t you live with Emily? What’s the story behind that?
Me and Emily recently moved to Sycamore Heights in Oregon. It’s the latest move of many. We live with our guardian, Marcus Townsend, and his best friend, Jonathan Granger.

Where is your family?
The only family I have still walking amongst the living is my sister, Katrina. Although there have been sightings of her, I haven’t seen her for years.

Is finding her the reason why you keep moving?
That’s the main reason, yes. Marcus will find out about another sighting so we’ll all pack up and head over to the next town. Although, there have been occasions where we’ve had to leave anyway. We’re not like other people.

What makes you different?
Marcus wouldn’t want me to say too much about it for our own protection. Let’s just say that he has a tight leash on me and Jonathan, and there’s a lot at stake if Emily were to say too much to the wrong person.

Moving on; have you ever been in love?
There was someone for me once. Before my sister disappeared, Jonathan meant everything to me but I realized he wasn’t the man I thought he was. I’ve changed a lot myself over the years and now I see him more of a brother than anything else.

So there’s no man in your life right now?
I didn’t say that. There’s only one man that I can rely on in my life. He always listens to me, he doesn’t answer me back, he’s gentle, and he’s well-groomed. Our only real incompatibility is that he’s a vegetarian and I prefer to wolf down my meat… but he doesn’t complain or try to change me.

He sounds great! What’s his name?
He’s my pet rabbit, Flopsey. (Suzanne grins) Sorry to disappoint, but all I need in my life is my best friend, my pet bunny, and my sister. I’ve had enough of living with Marcus and Jonathan to know that I do not have the patience for a relationship. Besides, I have a very long life ahead of me for that kind of thing.

What do you think the future holds for you?
I feel like I’ve never been as close to finding Katrina than I am right now so I know that I have to keep looking. I imagine that somewhere she’s out there trying to find me too, and one day fate will make our paths cross. Nothing and no one will stop me from finding her, but luckily I am surrounded by three very supportive people that only want that for me too.

It was nice talking to you and I wish you the best of luck finding your sister.

I hope you liked my character interview with Suzanne. In the coming months be on the look out for Katrina’s, Emily’s and maybe even Marcus’.

Random Fact 2: In Forgotten there are three pets as characters; two dogs and a rabbit.

Stats for my Freebie Thursday promo

I’ll start by saying a big Thank You and Danke to all the people that downloaded my book on its free day! Like the previous free days, I’m going to discuss how my book did.

Here are the results:

[Screencaps to come]

Here are the numbers:

Amazon US – 377

Amazon UK – 28

Amazon DE – 3

Total – 408

I hope everyone that caught this free day enjoys Forgotten. It always means a lot to me that people are willing to take a chance on me. 🙂

Thursday was my least successful free day so far. Unfortunately, despite getting into a few top Amazon charts, this didn’t help me sell any copies on Friday. I’m slightly disappointed about that as I think free days are great promotional tools, but I’m also trying to look on the bright side.

Another Stats Post – Results Inside

First and foremost I want to say a huge Thank You, Danke & Muchas Gracias to everyone that downloaded my novel on Wednesday, words can’t express how truly grateful I am to all of you.

The results of my second free promo are in and I have to say that I couldn’t be more delighted. This post is going to be set out like the first post I did on my free promo which you can find here and split in to two parts. The first part will be about where I ranked and the second will be the actual numbers.

I got downloads from Spain, Germany, UK & the US.

I would normally start with Spain but both I and the wonderful person who actually does all the screencapping of my rankings (they also do my website which is here if you want to take a peek) completely forgot to screencap the rankings from the Spanish Amazon. So, today I am going to start with Germany. I ranked 1st in Occult and 2nd in Children’s SF, Fantasy & Magic. To make the images bigger just click on them to view them full size.

Forgotten going free (Monday 18th June only)

I know that this is late notice but tomorrow (18th June 2012) my novel, Forgotten, will be free on Kindle through all Amazons for one day only. I decided late Saturday night to make it free and like I said in a previous post I will report back any stats sometime Tuesday.

But don’t worry if you miss tomorrow’s “Monday Freebie” as there will be others throughout the summer. I also want to mention that I am in the Kindle lending library so if you’re in the US, and you are a prime member, you can borrow my book for free.

Here are the links to the various Amazons again. Amazon, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, Amazon France, Amazon Spain & Amazon Italy.

Now, on to something I should have mentioned last week but clean forgot and that is that I have a beautiful new website, available to view at Catherine Gardiner. I hope that you pop over, take a look around, and stay a while. 🙂

And lastly, next week (probably Thursday) I have a special post. Now, I don’t want to disappoint anyone as it’s probably just me getting over excited over nothing, but some of you might find the post interesting. 🙂
