Forgottenlrg

Sycamore Heights, where everyone keeps a deadly secret.

On the surface Katrina Harvey is like any other 17-year-old about to start their senior year but not everything is quite as it seems. After being violently attacked she loses her memory and now has no idea who is friend, foe, or – most importantly – that she happens to be a 235-year-old vampire.

Now Katrina is being stalked by someone, or something, who doesn’t want her to remember her past and will do anything to keep it that way.

Sixteen-year-old Suzanne Harvey was left distraught when her older sister, Katrina, disappeared two centuries ago. Suzanne was turned into a werewolf soon afterward and ever since that day she has been focused on finding her sister. A twist of fate leads her to Sycamore Heights, the same town that Katrina now lives. Now, as Suzanne gets closer to revealing secrets from the past, someone from the present doesn’t like what she could unearth, even if that means they drive her to the brink of insanity to keep the secrets forgotten.

In The Shadows – Behind The Scenes: Werewolves

Welcome to the second post in what I hope will be an ongoing series in which I will be spotlighting certain “family trees” that are in Forgotten and will appear throughout my “In The Shadows” series. To avoid spoilers I won’t be mentioning any characters by name but you can look forward to posts about werewolves, witches, soulreapers, shadowshifters and fey folk.

Throughout the ITS series you will come across both born and made werewolves. Below is what abilities my werewolves possess. Please Note: I have been influenced by certain aspects of werewolf lore, but not others. I understand that some people are attached to how they picture a werewolf, but this is what I imagine for my books and I hope everyone will respect that my ideals may be different to their own. Thank you.

Born Werewolves

Born werewolves up to the age of ten are known as pups but even though they will still show some of the abilities that adult werewolves have, pups don’t have the ability to transform into a physical wolf form until the age of twelve.

August Stats, Free Ebook Day Announcement & Websites I Like

I have heard of the summer slump in regards to books but I didn’t really believe it until I looked at my numbers for last month. I can honestly say that August hasn’t been my month and it didn’t help that for most of the month I was ill so I couldn’t update here or on my Twitter or Facebook. It might seem like I am complaining but I’m not; I am very grateful for every one of my sales that I have gotten over the past three months. I can’t thank you all enough!

As it is a new month, I’ve decided to set a new price for “Forgotten” and you can check out the details on my site which can be found here. I also should mention that “Forgotten” is going free this Thursday 6th September for one day only.

I wish I could give everyone an update on the progress of “Masquerade” (ITS, Book Two), or even the status of when “Forgotten” may be in print, but alas all I can say is that I am working on both projects (and a few others beside) and for everyone to watch this space.

Forgotten Character Interview One: Suzanne Harvey

Today, I am going to do something a little different on Books & Bites. On various blogs you may have seen interviews with characters from different book series, and I’ve decided to do the same with mine. Hopefully it will give you all a bit of an insight into my novel, as well as one of the main characters. I’m pleased to introduce you all to Suzanne Harvey…

Thank you for taking part in this interview. Starting things off, how old are you?
I’m sixteen; at least, that’s what I tell everyone that asks.

Are you at school?
I’ve just started at Sycamore Heights High with my best friend, Emily Rhodes.

Don’t you live with Emily? What’s the story behind that?
Me and Emily recently moved to Sycamore Heights in Oregon. It’s the latest move of many. We live with our guardian, Marcus Townsend, and his best friend, Jonathan Granger.

Where is your family?
The only family I have still walking amongst the living is my sister, Katrina. Although there have been sightings of her, I haven’t seen her for years.

Is finding her the reason why you keep moving?
That’s the main reason, yes. Marcus will find out about another sighting so we’ll all pack up and head over to the next town. Although, there have been occasions where we’ve had to leave anyway. We’re not like other people.

What makes you different?
Marcus wouldn’t want me to say too much about it for our own protection. Let’s just say that he has a tight leash on me and Jonathan, and there’s a lot at stake if Emily were to say too much to the wrong person.

Moving on; have you ever been in love?
There was someone for me once. Before my sister disappeared, Jonathan meant everything to me but I realized he wasn’t the man I thought he was. I’ve changed a lot myself over the years and now I see him more of a brother than anything else.

So there’s no man in your life right now?
I didn’t say that. There’s only one man that I can rely on in my life. He always listens to me, he doesn’t answer me back, he’s gentle, and he’s well-groomed. Our only real incompatibility is that he’s a vegetarian and I prefer to wolf down my meat… but he doesn’t complain or try to change me.

He sounds great! What’s his name?
He’s my pet rabbit, Flopsey. (Suzanne grins) Sorry to disappoint, but all I need in my life is my best friend, my pet bunny, and my sister. I’ve had enough of living with Marcus and Jonathan to know that I do not have the patience for a relationship. Besides, I have a very long life ahead of me for that kind of thing.

What do you think the future holds for you?
I feel like I’ve never been as close to finding Katrina than I am right now so I know that I have to keep looking. I imagine that somewhere she’s out there trying to find me too, and one day fate will make our paths cross. Nothing and no one will stop me from finding her, but luckily I am surrounded by three very supportive people that only want that for me too.

It was nice talking to you and I wish you the best of luck finding your sister.

I hope you liked my character interview with Suzanne. In the coming months be on the look out for Katrina’s, Emily’s and maybe even Marcus’.

Random Fact 2: In Forgotten there are three pets as characters; two dogs and a rabbit.
