Strange Fate Update (regarding release)

I see from my blog stats that I get a lot of people reading my Strange Fate release date posts and I thought it was about time that I did another.

Like some other fans from the UK, I was excited when I learned that Strange Fate would be released on Amazon UK on 31st December 2013. That day came and went and I even saw that people must have bought a copy due to the sales rank moving up but being the cautious type I thought I would wait until the New Year (I must admit that the fact that it still didn’t have a front cover up didn’t fill me with unicorn sparkles). So I waited, and then I visited Amazon UK to find this…

Strange Fate Amazon UK page - 5thJan2014

I thought this was odd since it had just been released so I put my Google skills to work and I found L. J. Smith’s Facebook page (I didn’t even know she had one) with this update there:

https://www.facebook.com/notes/l-j-smith/what-about-strange-fate-really/193452494174853

She says that her publishers may release sometime this year. Maybe.

Also, she did mention you could read the first chapter of Strange Fate on that page as well but I couldn’t find it, although I do know that there was an excerpt in this book:

Night World: Ultimate Fan Guide and the US edition.

I do not know if L. J. Smith changed it at all so if you only want it for the chapter excerpt then try and grab a cheap copy because it may have changed since then.

If I find out anything else I will keep you guys updated. 🙂

Something that I thought would be in place fell through but, rest assured, when the paperback is released next year I will announce it here on this blog along with on my twitter, Facebook & website. I have also been asked again when Masquerade, aka book two, will be released. As I mentioned in my first edition of Ask Cat (which you can find here) there are no firm dates as of yet, although I can say it won’t be ready before February 2013. In the meantime, I do have something that I will make an announcement on soon which I hope will be a pleasant surprise for those who are waiting patiently for the next book in the In The Shadows series.

I have noticed that I get a lot visitors looking for the release date for, Strange Fate, book ten in the Nightworld series by L.J. Smith. So, I thought I would give another update on the status because if other fans are like me then you’ll be eager to know how the series is going to end. Below are the dates I found on a couple of the Amazon websites. I hope that this helps anybody who is interested. 🙂

Amazon UK

Paperback – 31st December 2013

Lastly, for those of you who are waiting for the Behind The Scenes peek at my werewolves, your wait is nearly over as the post will be up within the next couple of weeks. Just when I think I have finished, my werewolves want to reveal more of themselves; they will do anything to out do my vampires!

Anyway, as always, thank you for your patience & your continued support. It is always appreciated.

Back to writing & Strange Fate release dates

Two days ago I said that I would do blog properly when all the excitement has died down, well, the champagne has been drunk and now it is back to writing book two of the In The Shadows series and another project I am working on at the moment.

So, I have been published writer for only a couple of days and I have to admit that I am still getting to grips with everything. Updating my author central pages and trying to get word out about my book. Anyway, I wrote about my book in this post but it didn’t have any of the buying info. So, if you are interested in YA Paranormal about two sisters and you want to support a new writer then you can find the novel at Amazon, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, Amazon France, Amazon Spain & Amazon Italy.

Here are the release dates for Strange Fate by L.J.Smith that I promised I would post.

Strange fate

US – (Hardback 2030) – 20th October 2012
UK – Hardback (Feb 2014)
Germany – Hardback (Dec 31 2030)
Canada – Hardback (Dec 31 2030)

Okay, that 2030 release date obviously is a mistake so I am not really sure when it will be released but the Feb 2014 date looks promising and the audio book this October I don’t see how that can be released in the next few month’s but the hardback will take another year and four month’s that just doesn’t make sense. If the dates change I will post an update. 🙂

I never thought this day would come

After another break in updating this blog, due to final edits, I am happy to announce that I now officially say I am a published writer. It has been a long road and there as been times where I really wanted to give up but I am glad that I never did.

Writing a book is hard, writing a book when you suffer from dyslexia well that is like climbing a mountain with no shoes on – in other words extremely difficult.

But I have reached the summit, I am exhausted but happy. I will post where you can find my novel in a later blog, I’m still in shock that my novel is for sale. I also want to thank the reader that has already bought my book. 🙂 Thank you so much for doing so!

I will blog again when I can think a little clearer and I will also post the updated release dates for L.J. Smith “Strange Fate” that I recently found out.

Birthdays, Blogs, Fear Street & Strange Fate

Yesterday I received a Kindle 3 (which is perfect), I haven’t given it a full test drive yet but it is just so pretty that I want to keep in the bx and admire its beauty. I have had a Kindle 2 that I bought from eBay but that had a faulty screen so even though I liked it I never really saw the Kindle’s full potential. I also got E63 phone which I have used a little bit and I have to say that it is by far the best phone I have ever used. It’s sleek, easy to use, and the best thing is that it has Facebook, Youtube & Adobe PDF Pre-installed. The camera is also good but I haven’t really tested that out yet but when I do I will post the results. If you haven’t guessed and why would you because I haven’t mentioned it but yesterday was my birthday and I feel so loved by all the people that have given me birthday wishes. Thanks to you all 🙂

Recently, I had an heart to heart with my sister regarding my writing & what direction I want to take in regards to publishing my novels. I am still going the Indie route but the problem I was stressing over was the paperback edition of my novel which I hope to release early next year. But my sister pointed out that I really should focus on the ebook edition since that will be released first, which I did hope to release 31st October but due to me putting the cart before the horse I really don’t think that will be possible but I will try to get out the ebook edition before December.

Even though, I still have a lot to do before the ebook is released I have also achieved a lot due to the fact of my obsessing. I have purchased my domain name & now my website is in the first stages of been designed, I have decided after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing what to name my series, my book cover is coming together and the mock ups look amazing. There is still a long way to go but I am getting there. My sister as being my rock through all this and I can’t thank her enough for all the help and support she is giving me.

Blogs You Should Read

In deciding to go the Indie route I have been reading some blogs and these are my choices that you should check out.

1: The Book Designer – This is a great book design site with loads of helpful posts. A must read for anyone interested in book design, fonts & typograpgy, publishing.

2: A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing – This is the blog of author Joe Konrath and he writes informative & thought provoking blogs about his success with ebooks.

3: Self-Publishing Adventure – This is the blog of Indie author Sarah Ettritch and is very helpful for indie authors from Canada as she gives a Canadian perspective.

4: CATHERINE, CAFFEINATED – This is the blog of Irish Indie author Catherine Ryan Howard and you should check out her section entitled Self-Printing.

5: POD, Self-Publishing & Independent Publishing – This is the blog of Irish author Mick Rooney and his blog is a goldmine of information and reviews associated to all things POD, Independent or Self-Publishing.

I also want to mention a blog post about ebook pricing from Moses Siregar III which is another thought-provoking and well worth a read.

And lastly on the blog front I want to mention a blog called Shadyside Snark. It is a cleverly & snarky review site for novels from R. L. Stine YA series Fear Street. You should also check out Fear Street as well which is along the same vein. If you were/are a fan of the series and you feel nostalgic then you should take a walk down memory lane and these witty reviews.

Strange Fate Update

For any L. J. Smith/Nightworld fans I have been checking out the release and I am sad to announce that it has been pushed back again to July 2012 for both US & UK release.
